Nord Pool's Chief Operating Officer, Daniella Grønne, has been with the company for almost eight years. She is an international expert in day-ahead and intraday markets, market rules and requirements and current market clearing solutions. This passionate COO is responsible for running critical infrastructure for the energy industry and providing the best products and services to Nord Pool's customers. “With ambitious targets and no time to waste, there is never a dull moment working with the energy sector. Everything affects or is affected by the current energy situation – geopolitics, climate change, economics. The industry is changing so quickly that the person who says it can't be done is generally interrupted by someone who is already doing it!” she says. With a strong leadership profile with over 13 years of experience in operations, including 12 years in management positions, Daniella is head of the Operations team that runs Nord Pool’s intraday, continuous, and day-ahead market clearing in coupled markets. “Every day, my team ensures that a robust and transparent market clearing algorithm matches electricity supply and demand, while optimizing social welfare in an efficient and scalable way,” says Daniella. “When you give good people opportunities, they tend to do great things. Positive interactions require empathy, understanding and respect for both coworkers and customers. My job is about the people, the technology and finding ways to be better. It is exciting to see customers using something we had at first only imagined and then developed until it was released.” Daniella’s responsibilities include realizing the company's strategy with operational deliveries, with a focus on people, organization, competence development, management and IT operations. She is also in charge of Business Continuity Management, security, and emergency preparedness of critical infrastructure, in addition to leading major cross-company strategic change processes to meet future needs. “I have a passion for problem solving and get to use that to influence the next game changing innovation, either within our service offering or with how the markets function. The energy sector is adapting on all levels, from research labs to boardrooms and we are reflecting our customers’ changing needs while also innovating on their behalf.” Prior to Nord Pool, Daniella held multiple leadership positions including building a consultancy business. Her previous experience spans the IT, ERP, logistics, retail and manufacturing fields, both as a consultant and in-house, working with everything from SMBs through to large corporations. |
