The Board of Nord Pool, Europe’s leading power market, has appointed Kari Ekelund Thørud as the company’s new CEO.
Kari Ekelund Thørud, 42, will join Nord Pool on 1st June from her position as Deputy CEO and Senior Vice President Markets in the Norwegian power company Hafslund ASA, where she has been responsible for the transformation from a Norwegian electricity sales organisation to the Nordic leading power retailer.

Kari Ekelund Thørud was educated at BI Norwegian Business School where she holds a Business Degree with a specialism in international business. She also holds executive management qualifications in Financial Energy Analysis from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, and in Strategy, Innovation and Management from INSEAD.
