Hans Randen has been part of Nord Pool since the company was established in 1993. He has traveled the world to participate in the development of cross-border power markets as we know them today. Holding unique competence in the electricity sector, with a broad background encompassing Norwegian Power Pool, Statnett and Nasdaq, he plays a key role in supporting a broad spectrum of Nord Pool's business activities.
Within Nord Pool’s Executive Leadership Team, Hans has defined responsibility for Operations, Public Affairs and Communication and Marketing.
As head of the Operations team the COO is responsible for running critical infrastructure for the energy industry. He is an international expert in day-ahead and intraday markets, market rules and requirements and current market clearing solutions.
"Nord Pool operates both Day Ahead and Intraday Markets in 16 countries under our own name. Additionally, we provide market operation services for several other Power Exchanges," Hans explains.
In the field of Public Affairs in Nord Pool he regularly interact with all relevant public stakeholders related to regulatory changes, as well as market and product development.

Engaged in both the financial and physical markets, Hans collaborates closely with Transmission System Operators. This collaboration equips him with robust insights into the diverse requirements that must be met in shaping the next generation of market design. His unwavering focus on Nord Pool’s pivotal role in this process remains steadfast.
