From Tuesday 9th February Nord Pool will deliver a competitive day-ahead offering for Poland, following the successful launch of intraday markets and clearing in the country in August 2020.
Nord Pool’s growing Polish intraday power market has already attracted approaching 10% of Poland’s intraday volume.
Welcoming the launch of the new day-ahead market Marianne Wergeland Jenssen, Director Markets at Nord Pool, said: “We are excited and proud to bring simple, efficient and secure day-ahead trading to Poland, coupled with our longstanding expertise in lowering barriers to market entry. Nord Pool’s day-ahead offer for Poland is all about providing customers with modern trading solutions, including free Application Programming Interface (API) trading.
“With its strategic position as a link between the Nordic/Baltic and central western Europe regions, Poland is a key expanding market for many of Nord Pool’s customers. In a more competitive European power exchange environment, delivering this new market is all about giving customers real choice about how, when and where they choose to trade.”
Diana Kazakevic, CEO and Chair of the Board at energy company Ignitis Polska, added: “It is great to see Nord Pool fully entering the Polish power market as it will further strengthen competition and provide new opportunities for customers. At Ignitis we welcome the launch of Nord Pool’s day-ahead market in Poland and believe it is another step towards ensuring even more flexible and innovative trading solutions in the country.”
