The Board of Nord Pool, Europe’s leading power market, has appointed Tom Darell as the company’s new CEO.
Tom Darell, 52, will join Nord Pool on Friday 1st April from his position as Executive Vice President and Head of Energy at Volue, where he has been responsible for integrated technology solutions for the energy business.
Welcoming the new appointment Chris Topple, Chairman of the Board of Nord Pool, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom to Nord Pool at a time of change for the whole energy business. He is a seasoned executive with background from management consulting, IT and telecoms, before he started to specialise in working with the energy market. He has extensive international experience and a valuable commercial drive. The Board is looking forward to working closely with him to both grow and strengthen Nord Pool’s position across Europe.”
Tom Darell added: “I am very excited and happy to join Nord Pool. Being involved in the energy sector at the current time is extremely motivating for me. Tom Darell was educated at the University of Oregon, where he holds a degree in Business and Administration. He later gained an MBA at the IESE Business School.
