Seasonal Greetings to all our Customers!
2021 proved to be yet another interesting, unpredictable and challenging year for the Nord Pool team and for our customers, both at an individual and business level.
We have again enjoyed working alongside our customers across the world and are grateful for your collaborative engagement.
In particular, we have valued your forthright feedback on our products and services and the continuing trust you have shown by trading with us.
We wish all our customers the very best for the festive season and the New Year, in the hope that things might become more ‘normal’ and allow us to meet you face-to-face in 2022.
Exploring Green Energy
Nord Pool and tech start-up Granular are working closely together to trial a market framework for trading hourly energy certificates. The aim is to develop a spot market for hourly certificates to bring transparency, liquidity and efficiency to the expanding clean energy market.
With workshops planned for early 2022, customers (particularly those in the UK) who would like to find out more can do so here and here.
Latest from Market Surveillance
Our Market Surveillance team is pleased to share more of their expertise in regulatory compliance and best practice with the latest in their regular newsletter series.
This edition looks at the first few months’ trading in our new NSL auction as well as the importance of a common understanding and application of trading rules across all timeframes.
You can read the newsletter here.
Back to Business at E-World
The Nord Pool team plans to attend E-World Energy and Water (Essen, 8th to 10th February 2022), taking the opportunity to – at last – get to meet our customers face-to-face again.
The team would be glad to see customers at stand 3-225 in hall 3, where we look forward to hearing more about the challenges you are focusing on now and for the future.
To arrange to meet one of the team, be sure to contact your local Nord Pool Market Manager in advance.
Or just to drop by the Nord Pool stand for an informal chat. We will see you there!
New Go Live for Nordic and Baltic Market migration
Customers will already be aware that we will soon transition the Nordic and Baltic day-ahead auction markets (currently on our Day Ahead Web (DAW) platform), to our new Auction platform and API’s.
In response to customer feedback, we have decided to reschedule go live of this until Tuesday March 16th 2022 to provide additional time for members to finalise their technical readiness and conduct testing.
The major difference in this transition, for customers and traders, is that EDIEL and Day-Ahead XML API will be replaced by the Auctions API.
Many customers have already participated in Member Testing and we encourage all our Nordic and Baltic members to continue testing and familiarising themselves with the new trading platform up until go live.

Popular Courses in the New Year
Nord Pool Academy holds two of its most popular courses in the New Year, with places already going fast.
On Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th January 2022 the Academy’s Physical and Financial Power Markets Course will have a series of subject experts explaining the ins and outs of Europe’s leading short- and long-term power markets, including examination of recent changes and potential future developments.
Then, on Tuesday 8th February 2022, we have the Nord Pool's Certified Compliance Course. This sees the dedicated team from our Market Surveillance Department analysing the key subjects in the European power market’s rapidly changing regulatory environment.
Both courses are available as live stream or with in-person attendance. To find out more and sign up visit Nord Pool's Academy website.
