Answering the Energy Crisis
2022 has seen a great deal of speculation and debate among energy sector stakeholders and in the media about high electricity prices, their causes and the background to the energy crisis. Nord Pool operates the power market across 16 European countries, making us very well placed to constructively contribute to the discussion around energy markets, price formation and the underlying causes of the current crisis.
For us, the answer to the current energy crisis lies in addressing a combination of key factors – lowering demand, increasing supply of renewable generation, strengthening the grid and further integrating European markets.

Supporting Market Reform
At the recent CACM Annual Report 2021 seminar, Nord Pool was pleased at the supportive comments made by Catharina Sikow-Magny, Director, Green Transition and Energy System Integration, DG ENER.
Nord Pool welcomes Ms Sikow-Magny’s invitation to NEMOs to be actively engaged in reform of the EU electricity market, providing their knowledge and experience of market integration.
No-one is better placed to provide the necessary ‘sharp-end’ expertise around market reform than Europe’s NEMOs and Nord Pool stands ready to contribute.
