Nord Pool at the 23rd ERRA Annual conference
Nord Pool is pleased to share its participation in the 23rd Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) Annual Conference in Bratislava, a key event for regulatory and market developments in the energy sector.
The conference brings together regulators, system operators, policy-makers and market participants to discuss the strategic direction of electricity and gas markets. Key topics include system operation in high-renewable environments, resilience, blackout mitigation, balancing and ancillary services, regional platform integration and the move toward near real-time trading.
Rafał Staśkiewicz, Central and Eastern Europe Market Manager at Nord Pool, will share insights on how transparent, efficient and harmonised short-term markets help system operators manage real-time challenges, access flexibility resources and enhance regional cooperation.

New storage index for the European BESS Market
We are partnering with Clean Horizon to introduce the new Clean Horizon Storage Index, a neutral benchmark designed to bring greater transparency to the European battery energy storage system (BESS) market.
Based on Clean Horizon’s independent optimisation methodology and delivered by Nord Pool across 15 European countries, the index offers a clear and consistent reference point at a time when BESS revenues come from multiple markets and can vary significantly by geography and market conditions.
The Clean Horizon Storage Index provides:
• a transparent benchmark for BESS performance
• a reference for market access contracts
• a foundation for future hedging instruments
As storage becomes a more important part of the power system, our aim is to ensure reliable and accessible information for all BESS market participants.

Your feedback is important: SDAC fallback concept consultation
Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) are consulting on a new fallback concept for Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC). The proposal explores using intraday continuous trading (SIDC CT) as an alternative to Shadow Auctions for capacity allocation and as the reference price formation method in cases where SDAC price calculation is not possible.
The survey aims to gather feedback from market participants on the key drivers and potential limitations of this concept, particularly its impact on scheduling processes.

Become a Surveillance Expert
On 22 April in Oslo, Nord Pool is running a new, highly practical Trade Surveillance Course – designed for market participants who need a clear, defensible approach to REMIT II requirements.
This is a focused, behind‑the‑scenes look at how market surveillance operates in practice – and the standards regulators expect firms to meet.
Why this matters now:
• REMIT II is already in force
• Surveillance expectations have increased
• Algorithmic trading activities are under sharper regulatory scrutiny
• Firms must be able to demonstrate that their framework is robust, documented and defensible
During this course, you will:
✔ Review your existing surveillance setup against established best practice
✔ Identify areas that may require strengthening under REMIT II
✔ Build a structured, defensible surveillance framework
✔ Understand the full path from alert → analysis → STOR reporting
✔ Receive practical, actionable guidance from Nord Pool’s Market Surveillance experts
