Nord Pool Spot is pleased to announce that Rickard Nilsson, the company’s Senior Adviser Innovation and Market Design, has been elected the new leader of Working Group Power Market (WGPM) for 2016-2017 in the Europex General Assembly. Mikael Lundin, CEO of Nord Pool Spot, was elected member of the Europex Board for the same period.
Europex is a not-for-profit association of European Energy Exchanges that represents the interests of the exchange-based wholesale markets for electrical energy, gas and environmental markets. It gives input to developments of the European regulatory framework for wholesale energy trading, as well as providing room for discussion at the European level.
“There is an extensive debate in Europe about the future design of electricity markets,” comments Mikael Lundin, CEO of Nord Pool Spot. “For over 20 years Nord Pool Spot has delivered integrated power markets, and it is important for us and our customers that we bring our expertise to this larger European discussion. Nord Pool Spot has a truly European, multi-market ambition and we are happy to now take a stronger role in the important work delivered by Europex.”
The objective of the Working Group Power Market (WGPM) is to create the framework for an efficient and improved power market. It edits the necessary technical background documents and defines solutions for the power market with particular attention to practical implementation.
Both Rickard Nilsson’s and Mikael Lundin’s extensive and long standing international experience from the energy business are well suited for this work.
