Nord Pool CEO joins Europex Board
Europex, the 28 member not-for-profit association of European energy exchanges, has chosen Kari Ekelund Thørud, Chief Executive at Nord Pool, as a new Board Member.
Kari Ekelund Thørud, who has been CEO at the power exchange for nearly two years, brings nearly 20 years’ previous experience in the energy sector to Europex.
Accepting her election to the Europex Board, Kari commented: “I am delighted to be able to serve in Europex in the spirit of genuine working cooperation across businesses and regions which the association has established. These are times of transformational change for the energy sector and Europex has a central part to play in helping the wider industry to see and understand the broad benefits of well-functioning power markets. As a member of the Europex Board, I look forward to helping to meet that challenge.”
Europex represents the interests of exchange-based wholesale electricity, gas and environmental markets, focuses on developments of the European regulatory framework for wholesale energy trading and provides a discussion platform at European level.
Nordic Multi-NEMO coupling postponed
Unfortunately, publication of the Nordic Multi-NEMO Arrangements (Nordic MNA) go-live date has had to be postponed, due to the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on final stage testing.
The decision to postpone was agreed by all the Nordic MNA project parties and their Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) counterparts in order for all parties to run their critical functions and processes, including market coupling through SDAC, in a robust and efficient way during the Covid-19 crisis.
As soon as there is visibility on reliable dates for completion of testing, the target go-live date will be published.
