Power Futures Deal Moves Forward
We are pleased to announce that, with regulatory approvals now granted, migration of open interest on Nasdaq’s Nordic Power Futures market to Euronext Clearing is planned to take place over the weekend of Saturday 14 March 2026, as part of progress with our Euronext Nord Pool Power Futures project.
Migration will be preceded by the technical launch of the market (final date tbc).

Nord Pool Welcomes EU Review of UK Trading
We were very pleased to see the joint common understanding document from the UK and EU governments, announced last month, which examines the UK’s possible participation in the EU’s internal electricity market in all timeframes.
Securing efficient EU-GB trading in the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) and Single Intraday Coupling (SIDC), is critical to enabling both the UK and EU economies to manage increasing levels of electrification at the same time as rapidly expanding intermittent generation and storage technologies.
Nord Pool firmly believes that the GB market should not repeat the mistakes of the past. Although our day-ahead markets remain very strong in both GB and the EU, growth in physical trading is shifting closer to real-time – driven by new technologies and strong economic signals. To bring the greatest benefit to market participants and consumers in the UK, full participation in both the SDAC and SIDC markets is required and must be implemented simultaneously.

Pietro on Power Market Design
Our Executive Vice President - Western and Central Europe, Pietro Rabassi, recently had the privilege of being opening speaker at the Power Market Design Expert Workshop at the International Energy Agency in Paris, as part of a panel addressing the hot topic of Market Design and Operations.
Pietro's key takeaways from this important workshop include that, in a world ever more electrified - and with an increasing penetration of renewable energy sources:
- Short-term power markets work well, while signalling the need for measures like decentralised flexibility markets / granular certificates of origin, to ensure a sustainable, secure and affordable energy market and industry
- Hedging tools (eg forward markets, PPAs and CfDs) need improvement
- Market design has a vital role in supporting capacity investments and resource adequacy
Have Your Say on Balancing Capacity
The public consultation on co-optimisation of balancing capacity in SDAC is now live. For a limited time, Nord Pool members have the opportunity to give their views on the draft report submitted by NEMOs and TSOs to ACER, covering concepts of bidding products, bid design and pricing: Public Consultation of NEMOs and TSOs on the Co-optimisation R0 - Page 1 of 8 - European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity - Citizen Space
It is important that Nord Pool members give their input on this potential development - we encourage all those interested in the future shape of the European power market, to do so. Deadline to have your say is Monday 30 June.
