Nord Pool Spot has received the following information from Svenska Kraftnät:
In accordance with Article 9 of Council Regulation no 1/2003 Svenska Kraftnät has offered certain commitments to the European Commission with an aim to comply with the concerns expressed by the Commission in its preliminary assessment (25 June 2009) regarding Case no 39351 Swedish Interconnectors. The commitments consist of three parts:
- to divide Sweden into bidding zones for Elspot before July 2011,
- to reinforce the West Coast Corridor, and
- to reduce the need to restrict trading capacity on interconnectors in certain circumstances, by increased counter trade, during the interim period until bidding zones can be introduced.
The Commission will publish these commitments today, Tuesday 6 October 2009, in the Official Journal of the European Union with the object of performing a "market test". Third parties are invited to comment to the Commission on the proposed commitments within a month. After this the Commission will make its decision in the case.
