Nordic and Baltic Day-ahead Migration
In preparation for the migration of our Nordic and Baltic day-ahead markets to our new auction platform and Auction API on Wednesday 16th March, please be aware that we have opened the production environment for bidding, for first delivery date Thursday 17th March.
Members should log in to the platform, test their production user access and confirm their ability to submit orders ahead of go live.
API users will need to request production user credentials by emailing: email@example.com.
Nord Pool Announces New CEO
Nord Pool has announced that Tom Darell, 52, will become the company’s new CEO from Friday 1st April.
Tom joins us from his position as Executive Vice President and Head of Energy at Volue, where he has been responsible for integrated technology solutions for the energy business.
Welcoming the new appointment Chris Topple, Chairman of the Board of Nord Pool, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom to Nord Pool at a time of change for the whole energy business. He has extensive international experience and a valuable commercial drive. The Board is looking forward to working closely with him to both grow and strengthen Nord Pool’s position across Europe.”
New Body Aims For Greater Cooperation
A new representative body comprising all NEMOs and TSOs – the MCSC (Market Coupling Steering Committee) – has been created, with the aim of providing improved governance, operational development and collaboration with stakeholders.
The MCSC will now work on integrating decision making for both the day-ahead and intraday timeframe, to ensure further coordination, foster efficiency and create a faster decision-making mechanism.

Core Market Coupling Readiness Webinar
The Core Flow-Based Market Coupling project (encompassing the bidding zone borders between: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia) is holding an open webinar on Wednesday 23rd March from 9.30am CET to explain changes in operational processes related to the project (planned go live Wednesday 20th April).
MoU Signals Belgium/UK Energy Cooperation
There have been positive signals recently concerning further interconnection for the UK across the North Sea, with the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding for a possible second cable with Belgium.
Don’t forget there is a clock change on Sunday 27th March. With the transition from wintertime to summertime, the clocks go forward one hour at 03:00 CET, meaning Sunday 27th will have 23 trading hours.
